Gaby Baum

 

 

My name is Gaby Baum. I am a student at Penn State University and I'm from Basking Ridge, New Jersey. This past fall I completed my tenth year of cheerleading. I am proud to say that my time as a cheerleader ended with a victory as Ridge High School (my high school) claimed the State Championship title. In addition to cheering, I have student coached in the Ridge Youth Sports organization for the past four years. This is a community service internship that I have fallen in love with. I have coached the same girls since my freshman year and feel that I have become an older sister and mentor to the team. Each girl has provided me with a new outlook about all the opportunities cheerleading can offer. When the girls I coached started attending Varsity Brand competitions, I wanted to learn more about the company. The following month I applied for the Varsity IT Girl internship and I got the job! The internship allowed me to see the marketing and business side of cheerleading, a side I have always wanted to discover.
